SMER MiG-17F Fresco-C Scale 1/48

Hello... My name Kusumah AR from Indonesia. This review model is first my project for aircraft 1/48 scale. I try to build this kit, SMER (Polish) MiG-17F Fresco-C Scale 1/48 with 11th Squadron/Angkatan Udara Republik Indonesia insignia (early 1970) for celebrating Indonesia Independence at August 17th 2011. When I buying this kit December 2009, pricing around USD 30. My opinion for kit SMER MiG-17F Scale 1/48 is not to bad. The panel lines is nice engraved, but to much deep. The precision parts also poor and needed more putty (especially between wings and fuselage). Cockpit interior was standard and I build like a manual. More point to me for this kit because SMER give option super decals for Angkatan Udara Republik Indonesia (maybe only regular kit MiG-17F Scale 1/48 with option Indonesian Air Force insignia), Egypt Air Force, Czechslovakia Air Force, and Polish Air Force. This kit also include some parts for build Lim-6bis variant (only for Polish Air Force).

First step, I'm begining with build cockpit and colored the interior with base standar colour Tamiya XF-25 Dark Grey ( for dashboard & floor) and Tamiya XF-70 Dark Green (for ejection seat). For detailing, I used decal cockpit, Snowman Drawing Paintmarker (silver, black, yellow, red), and paint brush (for extra tools when painting specific details). Second my job is building fuselage, tailfin, completed main wings, back wings, landing gear, and drop tank.

For smooth, I more used Tamiya putty and power glue. Don't forget install a bold steel 6 gram in front kit for stabilization when stand up. For glass canopy, I used Tamiya tape for masking. Finally I'm merge cokpit, fuselage, tailfin, main wings, back wings, glass canopy, and drop tank. Next my job is painting the body kit. I used Pylox Silver No.124 for colored the skin aircraft. For landing gear, I used Pylox Silver No.124 and Pylox Flat Black No.109A (only for tears).

After dry, I'm continued with decaling AURI insignia (with beautiful thunder in tailfin and main wings... And finally covered with Pylox Clear No.128. Because MiG-17F have afterburning ring in exhaust turbojet engine Klimov VK-1F, I colored this component with Pylox Gold No.123. For finishing, I weathering panel lines with Snowman Drawing Point (No.01,02, and 03), and merge the landing gear. I need 22 days for finished this kit.
